The Basics
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing used to create the look of natural brows. A small hand tool is used to etch lines into the skin that resemble the appearance of real hairs. Microblading may be used to fully reconstruct, define and enhance brow shape, or fill in areas that have been lost to over-tweezing or aging. Those who just want to add a slight arch are also great candidates.
The process leaves your brows with an all-natural look that that will last 1-3 years, depending upon the age and condition of one’s skin. The microblading technique gradually fades over time and will require periodic retouch.
Depending upon one’s skin type and condition, not all individuals are ideal candidates for microblading. The appropriate technique for your desired result will be discussed during your free consultation.

The Process
CONSULTATION
Every procedure begins with a free consultation to discuss color, style, and care. Your technician will consult with you regarding the brow design most aesthetically pleasing to you. Before the procedure begins, your technician will carefully draw an outline of your ideal brow. The outline is meticulously measured to fit the shape of your natural brows, eyes, and face. A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort, followed by a secondary topical anesthetic if necessary.
PROCEDURE
Using a microblading hand tool, your Rochester microblading technician can define, reshape, and fill in your brows using small strokes that resemble individual eyebrow hairs.
Another hand method of brow tattooing is the Softap method (also known as the hand method of micropigmentation). Herein, a trained technician deposits pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. The Softap method allows for accuracy and control when depositing color, without the tissue trauma of machine methods.
For either method, pain and discomfort level is very individual. Regardless, your technician will employ safe and approved topical anesthetics to ensure your comfort.
POST-PROCEDURE CARE
Healing of the outer layer of skin requires approximately 7-9 days. During this time, many clients experience slight itching or peeling around the eyebrows. This is completely normal and occurs as part of the healing process.
Immediately following your appointment, the client should apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly, A&D Ointment, Aquaphore or coconut oil over the brows while they are healing. The product should be new. Previously used ointments may be contaminated. Keeping the treated area moist reduces the risk of color loss and infection.
RETOUCH
Five-seven weeks after the initial application of pigment, a retouch appointment will be scheduled to correct any fading or loss of pigment. The cost of a full brow microblading procedure includes the initial procedure and five-week retouch. Final results may last up to three years depending upon age, health, and skin type.
For greater longevity please avoid the use of retinol, exfoliating scrubs and soaps, anti-aging serums, and moisturizers on or around your brows. These products contain acids that could cause your pigments to fade prematurely.
